After helping the Canisius College hockey team to a weekend sweep against second-place Holy Cross, junior defender Chris Rumble (Seattle, Wash.) collected Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week accolades, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
In a pair of victories over the Crusaders, Rumble helped limit Holy Cross to just two goals during the weekend, while adding two points plus a team-best 10 shots and four blocked shots. He scored the game’s opening goal in Friday’s 2-1 overtime victory before adding an assist on a power-play goal in Saturday’s win.
The team’s leading scorer among defenders, Rumble has registered 12 points, four goals and eights assists this season. He currently leads all blueliners in league play with 11 points (4g, 7a) in 15 Atlantic Hockey contests.
