BINGHAMTON, NY – The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Ryan Dzingel to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $750,000 in the National Hockey League and $72,500 in the American Hockey League.
Dzingel, a native of Wheaton, IL, appeared in 44 games for the B-Sens last season scoring 12 goals. He also set new professional career highs in assists (24) and points (36). On December 21, Dzingel was recalled to Ottawa for the first time and made his NHL debut on December 22.
After being called up, Dzingel played in 30 NHL games with Ottawa, recording three goals and six assists for nine points. He scored his first NHL goal on February 16 vs. Buffalo in a 2-1 shootout win.
The 6-foot-0, 196-pound forward was selected by Ottawa in the seventh round, 204th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft. Dzingel spent three seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes before being signed to an entry-level contract on April 2, 2014.
Prior to his three years at Ohio State University, Dzingel played two seasons with the Lincoln Stars in the United States Hockey League. In 90 games with the Stars, Dzingel scored 34 goals and helped with 59 assists.
