BUFFALO, N.Y. (November 23, 2015) – The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team will be partnering with Catholic Charities of Buffalo to introduce the new Sabres Holiday Angels program for the upcoming holiday season. Sabres Holiday Angels is an adopt-a-family program that allows Sabres fans to participate by supporting our neighbors in need this holiday season.

“Buffalo is a community that takes care of one another,” Buffalo Sabres President Russ Brandon said. “It is our goal through the Sabres Holiday Angels program that we will help make the holidays a little bit warmer for families who are facing hard times, especially those with young children.”

There are three different ways that fans can get involved with the program. The first is the adopt-a-family option. After registering to adopt, fans will receive information via email with details regarding the family they have been chosen to support. Information will include: first name(s), age(s), gender, clothing size(s) and interests/likes for each person to assist with shopping efforts (Note: In some cases limited information is available).

The second option is the donation of individual gifts to the program. The gifts can be of the donor’s choosing and Catholic Charities will match the gift with a person or family in need. The third and final option is the simple donation of a gift card. Gift cards may be mailed directly to Catholic Charities Parish Outreach & Advocacy – 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, N.Y. 14209.

Gifts should be valued at no more than $30 for each individual. Catholic Charities asks that donors please not wrap the gifts and to note the individuals’ names on each gift if you have received that information through the program. All gifts are due to the charity by Dec. 14, 2015 and can be dropped off at the following locations:
· Catholic Charities Administrative Office, 741 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, N.Y. 14209, on Dec. 8 and 10 between 12 and 4:30 p.m.
· Catholic Charities Ladies of Charity, 1122 Broadway St., Buffalo, N.Y. 14212, on Dec. 7, 8, 9 and 10 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
· Catholic Charities Lackawanna Pantry, 75 Caldwell Pl., Lackawanna, N.Y. 14218, on Dec. 7 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
· Catholic Charities Town Square Food Pantry, 2710 N. Forest Rd., Getzville, N.Y. 14068, on Dec. 8 between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.
· First Niagara Center, One Seymour H. Knox III Plaza, Buffalo, N.Y. 14203, on Monday, Dec. 14 between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
“Catholic Charities works with thousands of families who are in need of help during the holiday season,” said Eileen Nowak, Catholic Charities Director of Parish Outreach & Advocacy. “And for many of the families, the gifts that are donated through this program may be the only gifts they receive this Christmas. We are excited to partner with the Buffalo Sabres and want to thank everyone who joins us in this effort.”

Fans are asked to contact Catholic Charities at 716-218-1400 x2005 or x2006 if they have any questions regarding Sabres Holiday Angels, if they have signed up for the program but can no longer provide gifts for the family they were given, or if they need to change their delivery time/location.
