BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres announced the team has signed defenseman Cody Franson to a two-year contract.
Franson (6’5”, 213 lbs., 8/8/1987) split the 2014-15 season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators, setting career-high totals in points (36) and assists (29) in 78 games during his sixth NHL season. It marked the second consecutive season in which he topped his best career totals in those categories.
In 400 regular-season games with the Predators and Maple Leafs, the Sicamous, British Columbia native has recorded 169 points (35+134) and 134 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in 28 NHL playoff games, totaling 15 points (4+11) and two penalty minutes in the postseason.
