UTICA, NY- Junior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named the ECAC West Player of the Week, Monday, after her stellar performance last weekend.
Schnepp totaled six points in a weekend sweep of SUNY Canton. On Saturday, she netted two goals, including the game-winner and added one assist to help Utica down Canton 4-1. She followed that up with one goal and two assists in the Pioneers’ 6-3 win over the Roos on Sunday. She currently leads the country in powerplay goals (three) and is tied for the national lead with 3.00 points per game.
Schnepp finished third on the team in scoring one year ago with 17 points (seven goals, ten assists), and only had two powerplay tallies the entire season. In her career, she has compiled 44 points (22 goals, 22 assists) in 54 games played.
The Pioneers (2-0) open up ECAC West conference action next weekend as they take on William Smith College in a home-and-home series. The first game will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Aud, before both teams travel to Geneva, NY on Sunday for a 4 p.m. faceoff.
