Dylan Seitz netted a hat trick to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres over the Milton Icehawks, 8-1.
Seitz notched his first tally 11:57 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:02 into the third and at 19:15 into the third.
Milton was stymied by Buffalo’s netminder Tucker Weppner, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Weppner managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.75 prior to the game.
The Jr. Sabres forced the Icehawks’ goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 47 shots and forcing 39 saves. Jakob DeVincentis made 21 stops and Anthony Coletta made 18. Buffalo found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Jr. Sabres average 4.3 goals per game. Buffalo capitalized on Milton’s penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.
Buffalo additionally got points from Tim Nicksic, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Matthew Buchbinder, who also had one goal and one assist, and Bryce Ferrell, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Buffalo also had goals scored by Nicholas Bondra and David Baskerville, who each put in one. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Aaron Reinig, Zach Evancho, Adam Tretowicz, Joshua Biasillo, Christian Zimmerman, and Ryan Wheeler, who contributed one each and Christopher Berger and Wilson Vershay, who each chipped in two.
The Icehawks’ offense rang up 33 shots on the Jr. Sabres’ net.
Graeme MacLean also scored for Milton. More assists for Milton came via Andrew Petrucci and Anthony Filoso, who contributed one each.
Buffalo ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Milton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
