BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Ottawa Senators selected a total of five players in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft Friday and Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y., welcoming four forwards and one defenseman to the organization.
(F) LOGAN BROWN (1st Round | 11th Overall) – Ottawa originally held the 12th overall pick in the NHL Draft, however, traded up to the 11th overall pick and selected Logan Brown. Brown is the son of former NHL player, Jeff Brown and played youth hockey in St. Louis and Indiana before being selected by the Niagara IceDogs in the first round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. Brown was then traded to the Windsor Spitfires for a total of six draft picks before his rookie campaign. In his rookie season, the Raleigh, NC native scored 17 goals and added 26 assists in 56 games played. This past season, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound forward racked up 74 points (21 goals, 53 assists) in 59 games. At the World Junior Championships, Brown totaled three goals and nine assists for Team USA.
(F) JONATHAN DAHLEN (2nd Round | 42nd Overall) – Jonathan Dahlen also has NHL ties. His father is former NHLer, Ulf Dahlen. In the past three seasons, Jonathan Dahlen has taken the ice for Sweden at the U17, U18 and U19 level scoring 14 goals and 14 assists in International play. The 5-foot-11, 176-pound forward recorded 15 goals and 14 assists in 51 games for the Timra IK organization. During their playoff run, Dahlen scored six goals in five games. In 2014-15, Dahlen tallied 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points in just 40 regular season games.
(F) TODD BURGESS (4th Round | 103rd Overall) – Fairbanks Ice Dogs forward, Todd Burgess, was the NAHL’s Most Valuable Player this past season. Burgess, who is committed to play NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey at RPI, led the Ice Dogs to the 2016 Roberson Cup National Championship. Burgess led the league with 95 (38 goals, 57 assists) points during the regular season, which was the most in the NAHL since 2006-07. In Burgess’ three-year stint with Fairbanks, he scored a total of 50 goals and 89 assists for 139 points in 145 games played. The 6-foot-2, 179-pound Arizona native was also selected to play in the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.
(D) MAXIME LAJOIE (5th Round | 133rd Overall) – Maxime Lajoie finished his second full season with the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League. During his first full season in the WHL, Lajoie tallied 40 points, finishing second in the rookie defensemen scoring race. In the 2015-16 season, the 18-year-old was named alternate captain of the Broncos and put up 37 points in 62 games. Lajoie led Swift Current’s defensemen in goals, assists and points. The 6-foot-1, 183-pound Lajoie was selected 95th overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.
(F) MARKUS NURMI (6th Round | 163rd Overall) – The final selection for the Senators in the 2016 NHL Draft was forward Markus Nurmi. In the 2015-16 season with TPS Turku in the Finnish Junior Elite League, the 6-foot-4, 176-pound Nurmi stacked up 36 points in 49 games. This past April, Nurmi had two assists and helped lead Finland to a gold medal team at the U-18 World Championships.
