Six Top Beauts In Final Minute of Regulation Time

AMHERST, NY — Michela Cava scored at the 19:00 mark of the 3rd period to lift the Toronto Six to a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Beauts at Northtown Center. It was opening night for the Beauts in the Premier Hockey Federation.

The Beauts trailed the Six by two going into the 3rd period, 3-1. Buffalo cut the lead to 3-2 at the 5:30 mark on a goal by Autumn MacDougall with Cassidy Vinkle assisting.

Buffalo then tied the score at 8:22 of the 3rd on a goal by team captain, Taylor Accursi. Cassidy MacPherson assisted on the goal.

That set the stage for Cava’s winning goal in the closing minute of the final period.

Toronto regained the lead early in the 2nd period when Leah Marino scored on a shot set up by Taylor Day at 3:14.

The Six opened up the lead to two when Lindsay Eastwood scored on a breakaway set up by teammate, Mikyla Grant-Mentis to make the score, 3-1.

The Beauts outshot the Six in the second 10-7.

The Six opened up the scoring in the first period when Shiann Darkangelo scored a power play goal at the 3:35 mark. Mikyla Grant-Mentis and Taylor Woods assisted.

In the closing moments of the opening period the Beauts tied the score, 1-1, on a goal by Missy Segall at the 19:01 mark. Amy Budde assisted.

Toronto dominated the first stanza, outshooting the Beauts 14-3.

GAME NOTES: With her goal, Accursi becomes the Beauts all-time leading scorer…The Beauts were outshot for the game, 30-20…the three stars of the game were: 3rd, Grant-Mentis, Toronto; 2nd, Accursi, Buffalo; 1st, Cava, Toronto.
