The St. Joseph’s Marauders scored three goals in the first 5 minutes of play in the 2019-2020 WNY Section VI Catholic School Championship over St. Mary’s of Lancaster.

Sean Deakin scored at 2:51 of the first; Tino Turello dropped one in at 3:24 and Frankie Attea scored at 4:57 putting the Marauders up 3-0 at the end of the first. St. Mary’s starting goalie Devin Golovin went to the bench after the third goal and in came Noah Winiarski.

The game remained scoreless until the third period when St. Joe’s Benjamin Cichowski scored, unassisted, with 48 seconds left in the game. St. Joe’s takes St. Mary’s 4-0. Goalie Joseph Fronzak gets the shutout and the game MVP.

St. Joe’s takes the Championship from St. Mary’s for the second consecutive year. In 2017-18 St. Mary’s took the title from St. Joe’s.

Season notes: St. Joe’s Matthew Orlowski has the #1 spot as a Leading Scorer in the Large School Division with 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points. Frankie Attea sits in third with 12 goals and 19 assists and Goalie Fronczak is the #1 goalie with a .947 save percentage.
