The St. Michaels Buzzers relied on the sparkling performance of George Argiropoulos in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres.
St. Michaels was led by Ian Edmondson, who tallied one goal. Edmondson scored on the power play 7:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. The Buzzers had gotten the advantage when Buffalo’s Ben Casale was sent off for roughing. Joseph Berton provided the assist.
St. Michaels took advantage of the Jr. Sabres’ penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.
St. Michaels also got points from Ryan Kruss, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Michaels also got a goal from Noah Jordan as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Luca Doctor, Scott Teskey, A.J. Dorazio, and Bron Loiselle, who each chipped in one.
Buffalo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Sabres average 3.1 goals per game.
Buffalo was led by Zach Evancho, who scored the team’s only goal. Evancho scored 2:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Brenden Dunning picked up the assist.
The Buzzers’ Argiropoulos stopped 27 shots out of the 28 that he faced. St. Michaels incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alex Connal took the loss and made 10 saves before being replaced by Nate Skidmore who made eight saves. The Jr. Sabres incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
