The Hobart College hockey team is ranked No. 5 in both the D3hockey.com poll and the USCHO.com poll this week. The Statesmen are now 17-3-2 overall and currently sit in first place in the ECAC West with a 10-2-0 record.
The Statesmen split their games at Neumann this weekend, falling 2-0 on Friday and cruising to a 7-1 victory on Saturday. Hobart leads the ECAC West in scoring offense (4.09 g/gm), scoring defense (1.86 ga/gm), and on the penalty kill (91.7 %). The Statesmen rank sixth in the nation in scoring offense, eighth in scoring defense and third on the penalty kill.
Seniors Brad Robbins (Murrieta, Calif.) and Ben Gamache (Longlac, Ontario) have each posted a team-high 25 points. The pair is tied for third in the conference in points. Robbins is also tied for third in the league with 13 goals, while Gamache leads the conference with 18 assists this season. He is tied for 14th in Division III in assists per game.
Senior goalie Lino Chimieniti (Montreal, Quebec) played all 60 minutes in goal in Hobart’s win on Saturday. He improved to 9-1-2 in goal this year. Chimienti’s .952 save percentage leads the nation. He’s also sporting a 1.52 goals against average. Sophomore goalie Frank Oplinger (Sewickley, Pa.) has played in 11 games and is sporting a 1.97 goals against average, a .932 save percentage and an 8-2-0 record.
The Statesmen will travel to take on Manhattanville for two ECAC West game this weekend. The Valiants are tied for second place in the conference. The teams will face off at 7 p.m. on both Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13.
