UTICA, NY – Freshman defender Vinny Stefan (Pittsburgh, PA/Kenai River (NAHL)) of the Utica College men’s hockey team was named the ECAC Men’s West Conference Rookie of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday.
Stefan totaled three assists as the Pioneers went 2-0 this weekend at Manhattanville. He registered one assist in the Pioneers’ 3-2 win on Friday night. He came back with a career-high two assists in the Pioneers’ 2-1 win over the Valiants on Saturday night. He now has four assists in his last three games and a total of six points this season.
Utica is 9-2-3 in its last 14 games and the Pioneers’ record is now to 10-6-4 overall on the year. After their two road wins over Manhattanville this past weekend the Pioneers improved to 3-5-2 in ECAC West play.
