Union College senior Colin Stevens is among 20 goaltenders included on the watch list for the 2015 Mike Richter Award, presented to the nation’s top NCAA Division I goaltender. The second-year award will be presented at the 2015 NCAA Frozen Four in Boston.
Stevens, who was a Richter candidate last season, is coming off a record-setting season in 2013-14. In addition to helping lead Union to the national title, he finished as the NCAA statistical champion in winning percentage (.853), while tying the national lead for wins (28) and finishing second in shutouts (6). Stevens posted the fourth-lowest goals-against average in school history (2.05) – which ranked seventh nationally – and recorded the third-best save percentage (.929) in school annals, which was ninth-best in the country. His 28 wins was also a program record.
The Niskayuna, N.Y., native earned AHCA/CCM East Second Team All-America honors and was named Goaltender of the Year in ECAC Hockey.
