SUNYAC Men’s Hockey Athletes of the Week Features Penfield, NY Native

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Ice Hockey Athletes of the Week are Goaltender Devin McDonald (Calgary, Alta / Camrose Kodiaks), Rookie Mitchell Parsons (Grandville, M.I. / Connecticut Rough Riders), and the Player of the Week Conlan Keenan (Penfield, N.Y. / Jersey Hitmen).

Geneseo’s senior goaltender, McDonald, helped the Knights to a 3-0 week and improved their win streak to six games. During the week he totaled 58 saves and allowed only three goals, for a save percentage of .951. McDonald made 17 saves in the 7-1 win against Elmira to begin the week. He then made 17 saves again in Geneseo’s 4-1 win over Amherst. McDonald ended the week with a strong 24 save performance against Williams, as the Knights won 3-1.

Parsons led Brockport with four points in the two games during the weekend at the Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament, scoring two goals and adding two assists. He scored one goal and assisted on two goals in the Golden Eagles 5-1 win over Anna Maria in the first game. Parsons scored another goal in the final game against Castelton and Brockport went on to win 3-0. Parson’s was named Tournament MVP.

Keenan has been hot for Geneseo since the start of the ice hockey season, he currently leads the nation with 25 points and is tied for second with 10 goals and 15 assists. During the week Keenan totaled three goals and three assists, and the Knights won all three games they played. In the 7-1 win over Elmira, Keenan scored a goal and added two assists. Keenan scored two goals against Amherst to propel the Knights to a 4-1 win. He then assisted on the game-winning goal as Geneseo defeated Williams in the last game of the week.
