DiGirolamo Named CHA Player of the Week

Orange defender leads team in points, recorded a goal and two assists against #7 Boston College

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse junior defender Jessica DiGirolamo was named College Hockey America Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, Oct. 7. She received the honor after recording three points, including one goal, in the Orange’s 4-3 loss to No. 7 Boston College on Saturday at Tennity Ice Pavilion.

DiGirolamo’s other two points came as assists. The points were the Mississauga, Ontario native’s first on the season. Her first assist came on a power-play goal by Emma Polaski in the second period, and in the third she found Anonda Hoppner for another power-play score.

The junior had the second-most goals (seven) among Orange defenders last year, trailing Lindsay Eastwood by two. As a freshman, she was named to the CHA All-Rookie Team after leading all CHA freshmen in assists.  An all-around standout, DiGirolamo earned a spot on Hockey Canada’s National Development Team this summer after turning heads at the Senior National Camp in July.
