GRAND FORKS, N.D. – After a 3-0 shutout win against No. 7 North Dakota on Friday, the Syracuse women’s hockey team lost to the Fighting Hawks by the same score on Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

“Unfortunately we didn’t bring any of the momentum from last night’s win to the rink with us today,” head coach Paul Flanagan said. “UND did a better job of getting pucks through traffic and didn’t give us many offensive opportunities.”

The Hawks scored a goal in each period to come out on top, 3-0. In the first period, North Dakota used the power play to get the first goal, but the next two were even handed.

Syracuse had the advantage in faceoffs, winning 29 of 53. Stephanie Grossi won 14 of those and Jessica Sibley added 12.

Goaltender Abbey Miller finished the game with 22 saves. The Hawks outshot Syracuse, 25-13, in the contest.

The Orange will be back in action on Dec. 2 and 3 against RIT. Friday’s game will be played in Syracuse at Tennity Ice Pavilion and puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Saturday’s contest will be played in Rochester and will begin at 2 p.m.
