A program first as Team USA defeated Czech Republic 9-3 to win the bronze medal at the IIHF Under-20 World Junior tournament in Buffalo. It marks the first time Team USA has medaled in three consecutive years.
NY Islander draft pick Kieffer Bellows broke Jeremy Roenick’s Team USA mark for most goals scored with his eighth and ninth goals of the tournament while Boston Bruin prospect Trent Frederic netted four goals in the win.
