TOMMY FLEMING RETURNS DOWN UNDER

He has overcome the most serious of setbacks, boasts a legion of dedicated fans, has proven his place in the world of entertainment and has confirmed his tour in Australia in 2010. TOMMY FLEMING is returning!

Unquestionably one of Ireland’s most successful entertainers, TOMMY FLEMING’S career has been celebrated with 32 Platinum Albums, invitations to represent Ireland at major international events, sell-out concerts and adoration from his audiences.

TOMMY FLEMING will perform at selected Australian cities late this year with a schedule that will most likely mean he won’t be found tanning himself whilst in Australia at Bondi Beach or the Great Barrier Reef. That said, if the opportunity arises to escape the tour for a few days Tommy has already created a list of destinations to visit. “If I somehow get the chance I would love to see Uluru or go Great White cage diving off South Australia. I did it once in South Africa and it was one of the greatest thrills of my life”, said Tommy in anticipation of his September and October visit.

Known for not only his powerhouse voice but also his quick wit and humour, the humble and proud Irishmen is looking forward to his return to our shores on the back of his sell-out 2009 season. His formal introduction last year acquired new fans and cemented his name in those who saw him.

Comparing his homeland with Australia, Tommy commented on the similarities he had seen, “The Australian audiences are sincerely the best. They get so involved and become part of the show and they completely get my sense of humour which can border on a little dangerous if I get very relaxed in the show. It’s like we get each other. We’re probably all related somewhere along the line. We have the same sense of humour, we love our beer and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

The youngest of six children, Tommy’s singing career started while still at school. These days, TOMMY FLEMING remains one of the most sought after Irish artists of the decade and is on his way to being firmly established as an international sensation.

This aside, it has not been an easy road to success for Tommy. Just when things were really starting to take off for him in 1998, he was almost killed when he was involved in a car accident while on a promotional tour near his native Sligo. Narrowly escaping from a burning car, he was left with a broken neck and a metal brace, putting both his life and career in serious jeopardy.

The ordeal only strengthened his will to express himself through music. “It kind of gave me the incentive to fight for my career and fight for what I wanted. Sometimes I think that it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” he says.

As part of his long road to recovery, Tommy made a decision that even his closest friends or family did not expect. He took six months off and flew to Africa to work with the Irish aid agency GOAL where he was a field operative in war torn and famine stricken Sudan.

Commenting about his time in Sudan, Tommy said “It was the best and possibly worst decision I have ever made. Working with so much death and hardship made me realise who I am and how lucky I am. I don’t take things for granted anymore.”
His conquering of adversity and desire to succeed has taken him from the accident, near death, to Sudan and now to being held in the esteem of noted personalities around the world.

International celebrities are also considered fans of the ambitious Tommy Fleming with actor LIAM NEESON commenting, “.that one’s a hard act to follow – I hope he doesn’t take up acting”, after hearing Tommy.

Add to this ERIC CLAPTON’S comment of “The best I have ever heard, bar none”, for musical praise, you know the lad from the land of leprechauns boasts something special that’s not to be missed.
