CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has chosen Plattsburgh’s Jimmy Poreda (Tonawanda, N.Y. / Connecticut Jr. Rangers) as Goaltender of the Week, Brockport’s Mitchell Parsons (Grandville, M.I. / Connecticut Rough Riders) as Rookie of the Week, and Oswego’s Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, Ontario) as Player of the Week.
Poreda has won the SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week back-to-back weeks. This week he made a total of 66 saves on 69 shots to lead his team to a 1-0-1 record. In the first game against SUNYAC opponent Geneseo, Poreda made 38 saves on 40 shots and allowed two goals. Plattsburgh held on to win the game 3-2. The next day against Brockport, he made 28 saves on 29 shots to help Plattsburgh to a 1-1 overtime tie. Poreda currently leads the NCAA DIII in goals-against average (0.98) and save percentage (.967)
Parsons, Brockport’s freshman forward, was an important part of the Golden Eagles 1-0-1 week. He helped lead a four-goal comeback against Potsdam, scoring one goal and assisting on another. His goal was Brockport’s first of the game to make it 2-1 Potsdam, this started a streak of four unanswered goals for Brockport. He assisted on the last goal to seal the game and make it 4-2 Brockport. Parson’s leads the team with six points (3 goals, 3 assists)
Junior forward Anthony Passero recorded his first and second goals for Oswego during their 2-0 week. The first goal was scored against SUNY Canton in a 6-2 Oswego win. His next goal came against ranked opponent #5/11 Hobart. Passero scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 4-2 Oswego win while also adding an assist.
