Top Ranked Plattsburgh Continues Winning Ways

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.-Top-ranked Plattsburgh State (17-0-1, 10-0 ECAC West) continued to roll with a 10-0 victory over the SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team (9-7-3, 5-4-3) on Saturday night. Eight Cardinals had multiple-point nights.

Plattsburgh scored four goals in the first period and six in the second as they reclaimed the top spot in the ECAC West. Shannon Stewart led the Cardinal charge with a goal and four assists. Mel Ames, Giovanna Senese, Katelyn Turk, and Jordan Lipson each scored twice for Plattsburgh, while goaltender Sydney Aveson notched her NCAA record 28th career shutout.

Freshman goalie Abby Tardelli (Potsdam, N.Y./North Country Ice Storm) made 29 saves in the first two periods and sophomoreAlexane Rodrigue (Monkland, Ontario/Bemidji State) stopped all five shots she faced in the third period.

The Bears look to bounce back next weekend when they travel to Buffalo State for two contests. Potsdam faces the Bengals a 7 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday.
