UB’s Bothwell Earns Honors

The University at Buffalo Lady Ice Bull ECWHL player of the month is Katelyn Bothwell. Katelyn is a grad student at UB and is apart of UB’s Rosewell Park Masters program in Biophysics. Katelyn grew up in Buffalo playing for the Buffalo Bisons hockey organization and also played her high school hockey at The Nichols School in Buffalo. Katelyn is in her fourth season with UB and plays defense and is the current captain. She is having her best season as a Lady Ice Bull leading the defense in scoring and also is one of the top scores in the league. To date in 12 games played she has 10 goals and 2 assists for a total of 12 points. She also has 1 short handed goal and 2 game winning goals. She also tallied her first hat trick against Slippery Rock University scoring 4 goals.

Janet has been covering women's hockey for over 35 years. Along with a 38 year career in Public Relations and over 40 years photographing sports, she found a passion in women's hockey. Her initial story was on the founding of the Niagara University D1 program, she expanded to collegiate and youth and was active in the founding and promoting of the WNY Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Federation. When Professional Women's Hockey hit the ice she was there, one of the first to release the story in WNY. Along with her husband, Randy, people comment that if there's hockey, the Schultz's are there!
