SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College senior goaltender Colin Stevens and freshman forward Spencer Foo have been honored with weekly awards by ECAC Hockey. Stevens was named goaltender of the week for the seventh time in his career while Foo was chosen rookie of the week for his first major honor in a Dutchman uniform.
Stevens backstopped Union to a series road sweep of Cornell in ECAC Hockey First Round action. Stevens turned away 57-of-59 shots for a .966 save percentage, allowing no even-strength goals, and posting a 1.00 goals-against average. In the series clincher, he made 29 saves to record the 11th shutout of his career, moving into a first-place tie for the most shutouts in school history.
Foo scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Union’s 7-0 win on Saturday. In the process, he took over the team’s rookie goal-scoring lead (11) and recorded his 23rd point of the season, which ranks second-best among ECACH rookies in overall scoring.
