Providence, RI – First year forward Haley Shugart netted the lone Dutchwomen goal in a 3-1 loss to Brown University in Providence, RI.
Shugart’s goal came with 4:46 left in the game as the Union College women’s hockey team finally put one past Bears goaltender Monica Elvin who made 33 saves in the game.
Elvin stoned the Dutchwomen on multiple breakaway oppotunities as Union had 34 shots on goal in total while Brown had just 22 shots on frame.
First year goalie Amelia Murray made 19 saves in her second straight apperance for the Dutchwomen.
With 1:50 remaining in the game and down by two goals, Union pulled Murray in favor of another forward. The Dutchwomen finished the game with a 6-4 player advantage but, they were unable to punch home another goal.
Union travels to Yale tomorrow as puck drop is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
