Freshman forward Ryan Scarfo of Union College has been named Rookie of the Week by ECAC Hockey. It’s the second time this season Scarfo has received the award.

Scarfo played a part in all three goals in Union’s 3-1 win over Sacred Heart (Dec. 28) in the consolation game of the Frozen Holiday Classic held in Bridgeport, Conn.  Scarfo scored two goals (including an empty netter) and assisted on Daniel Ciampini’s game-winner scored with 1:43 left in regulation.  Scarfo had two shots on goal and won a pair of faceoffs against Connecticut (Dec. 27) on the opening day of the Classic.  For his efforts, Scarfo was named to the all-tournament team.

A native of North Chelmsford, Mass., Scarfo has compiled eight points (four goals, four assists) in 18 games this season for the Dutchmen.

Union (10-7-1) travels to No. 1 Boston U. this Saturday.
