KRAVAŘE, Czech Republic – Trevor Zegras (Bedford, N.Y.) snapped a 2-2 tie with the game-winning goal at 16:59 of the third period for the U.S. National Under-18 Team as it defeated Finland, 3-2, to secure first place in the Under-18 Five Nations Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Buly Arena.
Team USA won all four games of the tournament, outscoring the opposition, 24-7.
The 2001 birth year group remains undefeated in international competition, winning its past 18 contests dating back to October 2017.
Cole Caufield (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Matt Boldy (Millis, Mass.) scored the other Team USA goals. Zegras added an assist, while Marshall Warren (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.), Jack Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) and Domenick Fensore (Thornwood, N.Y.) contributed the additional assists in the victory.
Cameron Rowe (Wilmette, Ill.) stopped 20 of 22 shots for Team USA.
