LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Calla Frank (Hugo, Minn.) stopped 25 shots, but the U.S. Under-18 Women’s Select Team fell to Canada, 3-0, in the second game of the Under-18 Series at the Lake Placid Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York.

“Tonight was one of those games where we just got beat in all areas of the ice,” said U.S. head coach Joel Johnson. “It’s very typical of a U.S.-Canada series so far, both teams learning a little bit about each other and both learning a little bit about themselves, and that’s the whole point of this series. I’m excited to see us bounce back on Sunday.”

Sarah Fillier converted a short-handed breakaway to give Canada a 1-0 lead 8:21 into play.

Clare Dalton scored from the right side of the crease on a rebound 3:42 into the second frame to increase Canada’s advantage to 2-0. Zoe Boyd split the defense with a feed from teammate Dalton to score a power-play goal, extending Canada’s lead to 3-0 just over six minutes later.

Team USA put 11 shots on net in the final period, but was unable to cut the deficit.

The U.S. and Canada will faceoff in the final game of the 2017 Under-18 Series on Sunday (Aug. 20) at 9:30 a.m. ET (live stream on HockeyTV.com).
