MONTHEY, Switzerland – Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) stopped all 16 shots he faced as the U.S. National Under-18 Team blanked Switzerland, 7-0, here this evening at Patinoire de Monthey. The United States concludes round-robin play with a perfect 4-0 record and claims the 2015 Under-18 Five Nations Tournament title.
​Will Lockwood (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the first period. Keeghan Howdeshell (Brighton, Mich.) and Patrick Khodorenko (Walnut Creek, Calif.) earned helpers on the play. Midway through the frame, Kieffer Bellows (Edina, Minn.) doubled the U.S. lead, 2-0, with Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) and Chad Krys (Ridgefield, Conn.) assisting.
Keller notched the lone goal in the second stanza at 15:54. Bellows collected the lone assist.
Nick Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) pushed the United States lead to four early in the final period. Krys and Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.) registered the helpers. Pastujov and Bellows tallied goals 43 seconds apart to send the U.S. up, 6-0. Pastujov’s strike came on the power play and was assisted on by Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y.). Lockwood assisted on Bellows’ marker. Keenan Suthers (Macomb, Mich.) closed out scoring with a goal at 14:35. Pastujov collected an assist.
Notes: Forward Nick Pastujov was recognized as Best Player of the Game for the United States … Team USA outshot Switzerland, 57-16 … The U.S. went 1-for-3 on the power play while killing off all three Swiss advantages … The United States roster is made up entirely of members of the 2015-16 U.S. National Under-18 Team, part of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program based in Plymouth, Michigan.
