GANGNEUNG, South Korea — Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth, Minn.) recorded two goals and an assist and Maddie Rooney (Andover, Minn.) made 14 saves as the U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team shut out Finland, 5-0, in the semifinals of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The victory puts Team USA into the gold-medal game on Thursday (Feb. 22), when it will play either Canada or the Olympic Athletes from Russia.

“Tonight, we beat a very good goaltender and a very good hockey team” said U.S. Olympic Women’s Team head coach Robb Stauber. “Our plan coming in was to repeat the good habits that we talked about earlier in the tournament and today we were rewarded.”

Puck drop for the gold-medal game is set for 1:10 p.m./11:10 p.m. (Feb. 21) and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network as well as streamed on NBCOlympics.com. The U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team, which has medaled in all five Olympic appearances to date (gold-1998, silver-2002, 2010 and 2014 and bronze-2006), is competing in the gold-medal game of an Olympic Winter Games for the fifth time.
