• U.S. Women’s Nat’l Univ. Team Routs Spain in Winter World University Games Finale
• U.S. Men’s Nat’l Univ. Team Defeats Korea in Winter World University Games Finale

GRANADA, Spain—Kristen Levesque (Sandwich, Mass./University of Rhode Island) opened the scoring with two goals to help spark the offense, spurring Team USA to topple host-country Spain, 9-0, in its 2015 Winter World University Games finale today at Mulhacen Pavilion. Caleigh LaBossiere (Acton, Mass./University of Massachusetts) also tallied a pair of goals in today’s contest. With the victory, the United States won the relegation pool and placed fifth in final tournament standings.

The U.S. Women’s National University Team placed fifth in the final tournament standings and won the relegation pool (1-1-0-0; W-OTW-OTL-L), beating Kazakhstan (3-2, SO) and Spain.

Notes: Caleigh LaBossiere is second among defenseman in tournament scoring with four points (3-1—4). Goaltenders Caitlin Nosanov (92.21) and Maria Barlow (91.89) are third and fourth, respectively, among goaltenders in save percentage. Kaley Mooney is fourth in goal scoring for the tournament with four.

U.S. Men’s National University Team Defeats Korea, 8-3, in Winter World University Games Finale

GRANADA, Spain—Sam Brewster (Plano, Texas/Stony Brook University) notched three goals in the U.S. Men’s National University Team’s 8-3 win over Korea today at Mulhacen Pavilion. Luke Hannon (Buffalo, N.Y./Liberty University) and Connor Schmidt (New Boston, Mich./Arizona State University) also made their presence felt, adding three assists apiece in the winning effort. With the victory, Team USA finishes seventh in the 2015 Winter World University Games, which conclude tomorrow (Feb. 14).

Notes: Connor Schmidt ranks third in assists for the tournament with seven. Matt Cooper is third among goaltenders in save percentage with .918 … Joey Breslin (3-5—8) and Schmidt (1-7—8) led the U.S. in team scoring with eight points apiece.
