Aston, PA – The Utica College women’s hockey team tied host Neumann University, 1-1, in ECAC West Conference action Friday evening.
The Pioneers move to 6-6-4 overall and 4-3-3 in ECAC West play. Neumann, meanwhile, moves to 3-14-2 (1-11-1 ECAC West). The teams return to action Saturday at 3 p.m. to wrap up the series.
Neumann opened the scoring at 11:49 of the first period as Shanelle Doucette netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season, assisted by Jessica Langdon. The Pioneers rebounded at 6’40 of the second period as freshman Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Team Detroit) netted her first career goal, assisted by classmate Veronique Lortie (Chambly, Quebec/Berkshire School). Neither team was able to net the game-winner, as each squad earned a point the in the conference standings.
Sophomore Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) had 30 saves, while her counterpart, Justina Mayr made 25 stops. Utica was held scoreless on four power-play chances, while the Knights went 0-for-6 on the man advantage.
