Aston, PA (1/30/15)- The Utica College women’s hockey team fell to host Neumann University, 4-2 in ECAC West Conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers drop to 6-7-4 overall and 4-4-3 in the ECAC West. Utica remains tied with Potsdam for fifth in the conference standings. UC will return home on Tuesday to host third placed Oswego State in league play. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Utica opened the scoring just 3:35 into the game as freshman Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Team Detroit) netted her second goal in as many games. The Knights scored the next four goals, including three in the second period to take a 4-1 lead. The Pioneers were able to get one back at 1:24 of the third period as freshman Taylor Osowski (Highlands Ranch, CO/Colorado Selects) netted her second of the year, assisted by Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) and Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy).

Marissa McNamara (Camillus, NY/Lysander Lightning) and Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) combined for 17 saves in net, while Neumann’s Justina Mayr had 33 saves in the win. The Knights were 2-for-7 on the power-play, while holding the Pioneers scoreless on six power-play chances.
