Utica College Men’s Hockey Clinch Top Seed In ECAC West Tourney

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Utica College men’s hockey team secured the top seed and home ice advantage in the upcoming ECAC Men’s West Conference Tournament as the Pioneers topped host Stevenson University 5-0 on Friday night. The Pioneers improved to 11-1 in conference play and have earned at least a share of the ECAC West regular season title for the fourth time in the 16 year history of the program. UC has now won at least a share of the regular season title in three of the last five seasons.

Utica still has two regular season contests remaining and the Pioneers will travel to ECAC West opponent Lebanon Valley College on Saturday at 5 p.m. Utica has now tied the program-record for conference wins in a single season (11). UC has now won six straight games and improved its overall record to 16-7.

Utica has guaranteed itself a quarterfinal round bye in the ECAC West Conference Tournament and will host a semifinal game on Saturday, February 25th at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The last time the Pioneers won the ECAC West regular season title was back in 2013-14 when the Pioneers finished conference play with a 10-4-1 record.
