UTICA, NY- The Utica College Women’s hockey team is currently receiving votes in both the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com national polls, released Monday.

The Pioneers remain just outside the top-ten this week in the D3hockey.com national rankings after picking up one vote last week. Utica’s great start to the season also garnered attention from the USCHO voters as they rank third in the “receiving votes” category with one vote this week.

UC is currently unbeaten at 5-0-1 (3-0-1 ECAC West) on the year. It marks the Pioneers’ best start in over a decade. Senior Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) ranks first nationally with 2.83 points per game and her nine goals so far this season are tied for the national lead. Junior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) leads all players with 10 assists on the year, and freshman Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) is second in rookie scoring with 2.00 points per game and her nine assists are second only to Schnepp.

The Pioneers face a tough test this weekend as they take on nationally ranked No. 2/3, Elmira College in a home-and-home series. The first game will be on Saturday in Elmira, with the series wrapping up in Utica on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
