Buffalo State junior captain Viivi Vaattovaara (Veikkola, Finland) was named to the D3Hockey.com Women’s National Team of the Week after pacing a weekend sweep over Oswego.
The defenseman who majors in biotechnology helped Buffalo State hold down fourth place in the ECAC West and remain just one point back of third-place Utica. Vaattovaara had and assist in Friday’s 3-1 win, and then netted her first goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday’s 2-0 victory.
Buffalo State (15-4/9-3) will play a home-and-home against nationally-ranked Elmira this weekend. The Bengals will host the Soaring Eagles on Friday at 4 p.m.
