BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 12, 2016) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Philip Varone from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Varone (5’10”, 193 lbs., 12/4/1990) leads Rochester with 12 goals in 38 games played this season. The Vaughan, Ontario native led the Amerks in points in each of the last two seasons and is tied for the Amerks team lead with 26 points (12+14) this year.

Since his selection by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Varone has appeared in 41 career NHL games for the Sabres during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, totaling eight points (5+3) and 16 penalty minutes.

In a corresponding move, the team has placed forward Daniel Catenacci on injured reserve.
