Jimmy Vesey may be the kid in the New York Rangers locker room, but some players even younger than the 24-year-old forward put him on the spot with an impromptu interview at Junior Rangers Hockey Camp last week.

A handful of campers got their chance to step up to the mic and ask Vesey whatever was on their mind.

When asked to name his favorite song of the summer, Vesey said that “Forever,” the debut tune from his Rangers teammate, Mika Zibanejad was the “no-brainer” answer. In case you were unaware, Zibanejad did in fact put out a dance single in June that can be found on his YouTube channel, with lead vocals by singer Sara Milligan.

Vesey was diplomatic when asked to choose his best friend between Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei and forward Kevin Hayes.

“I’m going to say it’s a tie,” Vesey said. “Both of them.”

Hayes was the one who got Vesey to try sushi for the first time, which may have prompted to ask Vesey to name his favorite sushi roll.

“I don’t have one just yet,” Vesey said.

Vesey’s best answer came last, when he was asked by Matthew G. what advice the he’d give to young players.

“Probably just to have fun every day,” he said. “Hockey is about making friends and making memories that you’ll have forever; just keep working hard and have fun.”
