William Smith College goalie Amanda Aalto was tabbed the New England Hockey Conference’s Goalie of the Week by the Conference office.
The Herons went 1-1-0 in non-conference play to open the 2021-22 season this past weekend. On Friday, the Herons scored three first period goals at it skated to a 6-0 victory at The Cooler. Potsdam earned the weekend split with a 2-1 victory at Maxcy Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Aalto started in goal on Friday night and stopped all 24 shots she faced as she earned the shutout. She made 12 saves in the third period as the Bears looked to break up the shutout. Aalto now has four career shutouts.
William Smith will open NEHC play this weekend, Nov. 5-6 when it welcomes Southern Maine and Salem State to The Cooler. Faceoff on Friday against the Huskies is scheduled for 7 p.m.
