Williamsville Says Farewell to Seniors

Congratulations to the Class of 2020 from the Williamsville Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Team. Recognized were Emily Belile, Jenna Cavalieri, Kelly Dormer, Stephanie Higgins, Samantha Ingham, Laura Kaplan, Lindsay Powers, Emma Roland, Erin Roland and Mia Wendell.

Belile will study Nursing at a college yet to be determined. Belile played in goal for Williamsville. She played 51 minutes this season with 15 saves in 20 attempts.

Cavalieri has been accepted at Mercyhurst University where she will play varsity field hockey and club ice hockey. Cavalieri, a forward, had 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points this season for Williamsville.

Kelly Dormer, a forward, will attend Daemen College. Dormer played in 21 games, had 10 goals and 8 assists for 18 points.

Stephanie Higgins will attend Daemen College in the pre-med program. She was unable to play this season.

Forward Samantha Ingham will pursue a career as a physician’ assistant. Ingham played in 7 games and had an assist.

Defenseman Laura Kaplan played in 18 games, had a goal and 6 assists this season. She plans to have a career as a physician’s assistant.

Lindsay Powers will study Criminal Justice at SUNY Delhi. She played defense for Williamsville. In 19 games she had one goal.

Forward Emma Roland, Williamsville’s leading scorer with 45 points on 31 goals and 14 assists in 21 games, has been accepted to Rochester Institute of Technology. She will continue playing hockey while studying to be a physician’s assistant.

Erin Roland, sister to Emma and a defenseman, will study exercise science at Slippery Rock College, where she will play Varsity Field Hockey. Erin had 1 goal and 12 assists this season for 13 points.

Mia Wendell, a fan favorite this season in goal, will continue her hockey career at Yale University. Mia played in 19 games, actually had an assist while playing 707.10 minutes facing 309 shots and saving 293 for a .948 save percentage.

Emma was named to the WNYGVIHF All-Fed First Team; Wendell to Second Team and Cavalieri and Erin Roland to Third Team.

Williamsville took the Section VI Championship and made it to the finals against Clinton High School at the NYSPHSAA Girls Varsity High School Championship in Lake Placid.
