William Smith College goalie Amanda Aalto was named the New England Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. It is the second time she has been honored by the league this season.
 
Aalto guided the Herons to a 1-0-1 overall record in NEHC play this weekend. She stopped 49 of the 50 shots she faced on the weekend, posting a 0.48 goals against average and a .980 save percentage. On Friday night, Aalto stopped all 20 shots she faced as notched her second shutout of the season. William Smith defeated Plymouth St. 1-0. Saturday afternoon, she stopped 29 shots, including six in the overtime period, as the Herons and Castleton skated to a 1-1 tie.
 
Aalto is 2-4-1 this season with a .918 save percentage and a 2.75 goals against average.
 
William Smith is 3-8-1 overall with a 2-5-1 mark in NEHC play. The Herons will wrap up the 2021 portion of their schedule this weekend, Dec. 11-12, with a pair of games at Williams (3-2-0).  Faceoff in Williamstown, Mass., is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
 
Fully vaccinated spectators are permitted at indoor events, but capacity will be limited to 50% at the Lansing-Chapman Rink. Spectators are asked to enter the main entrance at the rink and will be required to show either their Williams College ID or proof of full vaccination. Masks are required while indoors at Williams College.
