
Hamilton College’s Hannah Jaiven ’14 (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa HS) was selected the NESCAC women’s ice hockey player of the week on Feb. 18.
Jaiven — a defender — posted four points in a pair of victories against Colby College. She tied a career-best with three points on a goal and two assists in Saturday night’s 3-1 win. Jaiven played the hero on Sunday afternoon with her game-winning goal 1:16 into overtime that lifted Hamilton to a 5-4 triumph. She is tied for eighth in defenseman scoring in the NESCAC with 12 points (6 goals, 6 assists).
The Continentals (13-10-1 overall) tied the program record for wins in a season with the weekend sweep against Colby. Hamilton finished the regular season tied for fifth place in the conference standings with a 7-8-1 record. The Continentals are the No. 6 seed for the 2013 NESCAC Championship, and will play at No. 3 seed Amherst College in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.
