CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly award winners, and Colton Young (Colgate), Ayrton Martino (Clarkson), and Linden Marshall (RPI) have all been honored for the week ending October 24, 2021.
Player of the Week
Young (Jr. – Calgary, Alb.) continued his torrent start to the 2021-22 season with a five point (3-2) weekend against Arizona State. In Friday’s 8-3 win, the junior netted his first career hat trick, helping the Raiders score eight goals for the first time since 2013. He currently leads ECAC Hockey in points (10), goals (6), and is tied for first in the country for game-winning goals (3).
MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week
In his only start of the weekend, Marshall (Sr. – Victoria, B.C.) sent aside 28 of the 29 shots he faced at the University of Vermont on Saturday. He was tested early the contest, facing 14 shots in the opening frame, all of which he turned away. He was less than 30 seconds from his second career shutout before Vermont score an extra attacker goal late in the 2-1 win for the Engineers.
Rookie of the Week
Martino (Fr. – Toronto, Ont.) played a key role in Clarkson’s power plays that went nine-for-17 this week. The Dallas Stars draft pick recorded six assists on the week, including four in a weekend sweep of Alaska Fairbanks. He also had a helper on two of the Golden Knight’s four goals on Tuesday night against Canisius.
